What? – We will be hosting a meet at Scandinavian Import ServiCenter. Bring your Volvos of all flavors and forms. Saabs can come too. When? – Saturday, August 24th at 10:17am. SHARP.
Where? – 285 Derwood Circle, Rockville MD, 20850
You must be saying:"……But I still don’t know where that is, and I can’t use Google..."
– That’s ok, here is the location: https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&q=scandinavian+import+servicenter&fb=1&gl=us&hq=scandinavian+import+servicenter&hnear=0x89c841bbf87b42d5:0x44b22a8cb5af98d7,Hampstead,+MD&cid=0,0,6502736225190093919&ei=Ii75UYTmBpOq4AOE74GwCw&sqi=2&ved=0CJIBEPwSMAsWho’s invited? – You, yes, you sitting behind that keyboard, smart phone, tablet or crystal ball. Reply to the thread so we know you’re coming.
Why? – You like Volvo’s, we like Volvo’s… everyone is happy. Besides, it’s much nicer than waiting for the Ikea security guard to tell everyone to move it along.
What else is there? – Glad you asked. We are happy to afford you guys some time with VIDA, and maybe even read some crankcase pressures using the Volvo tool. However, please don’t bring your springs, transmissions, turbo kits, and evaporators hoping to install them. The shop will be closed for mechanical work…hey, we need some time off as well.
There will be some food served, and we will have a BBQ out there. Please bring food if you want, and we will be happy to grill it for you, no horse meat please.
Finally, there will be a quasi car-show. There will be some silly (Swedish-themed) prizes given in no particular order. Judging and scoring is solely at our discretion and will likely be decided on a whim. Creativity and war stories will absolutely help your chances of winning some highly cheesy prizes. Categories will be:
Best Sedan
Best Wagon
Best Coupe
Best Relic
And of course, the HIGHLY coveted, Best "Probably Shouldn't be Driving this - Work in Progress/Rolling Disaster"Fine print: This event, though endorsed by my shop, is my responsibility. I would like to be able to do this sort of thing regularly, so I would appreciate it if we could all practice good meet ethics (ie. no speeding through or lot, etc.) I've been to plenty of our meets, and I've never seen anything unruly, but now I can say I mentioned this.
