I recently started looking for a roof basket (Thule, Yakima, etc.) for loading up the car with coolers, vball nets, etc. for beach days. However, in searching for then both new and used, I had no idea how expensive they really are. So instead, I decided to make my own. I'm not one to do something totally flashy just for the hell of it as I'm trying to keep my car more toward the OEM+ side of things, but I love carpentry and building random items myself out of wood. So I grabbed my yellow pad and started sketching, which developed into sketching it to scale on Engineering Paper, which turned into full out designing it on SolidWorks so I can eventually run a CFD on it. Here is where I've gotten so far, with the complete design finished. All that's left is the build and a CFD process.
Here is the sketch and my SolidWorks Design.
The plan is to have this built for the SoCal Euro show on the 14th.
