Time has come for a new project. last summer, I bought back my old S70 T5m and worked on it all summer to get it back in decent shape. the car was running well but I decided to part-it out in order to begin a new project (old S70 project thread: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/159929-finally-bought-back-my-baby-after-3-years/#entry2216952 ). So here we are! A friend of mine had freshly painted Cream Yellow original T5-R shell sitting in is driveway (It was a project car but he ran out of time/energy) so I couldn't resist (Like a lot of volvo owners, I always wanted a yellow t5-r!). so basicly, when I bought the car, it had nothing but the interior, no engine, no suspension, no wheels, no brakes so when I went to pick it up, I installed a old pair of shocks and some springs in the back with some wheels in order to get it on the trailer. With the car home, it was time to think of what the hell i'll be doing with this car!!! needless to say that I stopped selling the parts from the S70. there was not much left from it but I still had the coilovers and the exhaust! I also bought back my ipd sways and wheels. the timing was also good because my girlfriend bought a S40 so she was sending is old 850 turbo to the junk! so I pulled appart the entire girlfriend's 850 turbo, swap the engine, transmission, suspension (bilstein's/ipd springs) into my old S70 (which will become a daily driver). then I installed the 2.5t with the 19T from the S70 into the T5-R with the Standard Suspension Coilovers, ipd sways, turbo-back exhaust and wheels. I completed the T5-R with the parts I removed from my girlfreind's 850 turbo (intercooler w/piping and brakes) in order to be able to move the car on it's own. these parts will be replaced this spring. I bought Standard Suspension's Big Brake Kit in front (first volvo kit sold in america, I can't wait to see how they will be!), R brakes in the rear and will be doing a custom FMIC.
When I picked-up the car:
engine transplantion from the old 850 turbo (which had a freshly rebuild engine) to the S70:
Let The Fun Begin!!
Rear Suspension Setup:
Front sway-bar installed:
Front Suspension and brakes installed:
look at this smile... that's one happy car!:
Resprayed the fuel-rail cover:
Fabricated a bracket and installed an MSD coil I had on a shelf in the garage:
i'm gonna need a skid plate I think :S :
Engine bay finally finished until next spring!:
On it's wheel again! The car had a gemini CF hood but unfortunatly the previous owner sold it a few days before i bought the car. I installed my girlfriend's hood but i'll have it painted this springs! for now, it make the car look like ronald Mcdonald's delivery car!
