My wife chose an onyx green automatic 1994 854 Turbo to be her daily driver last August, and as the months passed I continued to "improve" on its character by adding things I thought she might like, such as the requisite Pegs and HID's. Here's how it started:
Picked it up for cheap as it had a failing head gasket; went ahead and replaced valve stem seals, head gasket, water pump, etc. Basic stage 0 like ignition components and such.
Changed control arms, end links, bought Sachs shocks and struts, 20mm spacers for the rear, Pegs, HID's, signals.
Added some things to make her life easier. Navigation, reverse camera. Classed it up with some craptastic fake wood, and an S70 steering wheel.
Swapped in an S70 T5 SE interior. Also changed the A/C evaporator and the cabin filter. Just in time for summer to start, blows ice cold.
A slightly vain modification, illuminated rear window switches. I was sure the wife would appreciate this mod but she merely looked at me quizzically and asked me why I was wasting my time lighting up switches.
And if that wasn't a vain enough modification, I found a wood grain ash tray cover on ebay as well as a complete S70 harness, heating pad and relay for rear heated seats. Wired it to some 850 switches just for fun.
Flushed out the transmission and added a cheaptacular oil cooler. You know, in case she wanted something that might put a little more strain on the ATF.
Was gonna add iPD's bar+plate intercooler but installed it in my friend's car instead, along with some one-piece headlights I used to have on my manual R.
Decided to go a different route. Sourced a $50 Greddy intercooler and brought in some ebay pipes. I reused some of the OEM piping and had to get creative with the IAC plumbing.
Painted a bumper from the scrapper, cut it up to make a bigger hole for the intercooler, and added some lip I found laying around, which I almost mistakenly painted 422 (Turquoise Pearl) as opposed to 416 (Onyx Teal).
Added a Snabb pipe, custom filter, blue injectors, 4bar fuel pressure regulator, Kinugawa actuator, inMotion tune, Japanifold, EGR delete, and in the process of Kinugawa 20T with 9 blade turbine, OBX exhaust.
Also improved on the car's stopping power by adding 302 brakes.
Added a Magnaflow muffler.
Finally some motorsport stickers for effect.
And now it's an absolute hoot for me...I mean her, to drive!
