My name is Tommy. I used to own a modified S40, then I replaced it with a 2004 S60R that is nicely modified and I still own it – loving it! I am now married, however and wanted to add to the stable something that's more versatile for camping and snowboarding trips as well as those Home Depot runs J
Initially we wanted something newer like the XC60 RD but an opportunity came up which we could not pass up: A family friend was selling his single owner 2006 XC70 with 86K miles for what the dealer offered him at trade in - $6,000! He's an 82 year old lawyer, and replaced his car with a new S class. We had to jump on this opportunity - gotta love having no car payment.
The car has been very well taken care of. It came with extras such as Bluetooth, satellite radio, hardwired GPS and Volvo cross bars and bike racks!
Next step for me is Stage 0 Stuff. After that I’ll swap some R pieces into it. I already ordered R leather gauge cluster cover and aluminum trim pieces. Will also look for 17 inch pegs.
Being a newbie to the XC I have a few questions for the eXperts:
1. How do I disable traction control? This thing has no button and nothing in the menu toggle. Even if it's pulling the fuse - I want to be able to do donuts during the winter 
2. I want to install HID bulbs in the headlamps and fog lamps. My R runs 55W at 5000K and I love the look (or maybe it’s 4300) .. I am looking for a bright white look, nothing blue or yellow. What is the proper Wattage and K temperature to buy? Should I stick with 35W or 55W? Also, what bulb type in each?
3. What tire size do you guys recommend for 17 inch pegs to stay true to OEM? Obviously they'll be wider, but I want the speedo to be accurate.
4. The mirrors have these little rain-droplet logos on them. What does it mean?
5. I'm going to install an R steering wheel. I've got a 2004 wheel already, but need to swap out 2005 buttons (have those as well). Will I need a 2005+ airbag or will 2004 fit?
6. Will a VR rear wing fit? Do they make those without rear brake light?
7. When I'm on an off-ramp and the wheel is turned for some time, it feels like the power steering pump is pulling the wheel back then releasing...what could it be? Maybe flush the system could do the trick?
8. Need to do the timing belt. Will do the tensioner and water pump while there. Anything else to look after while that part of the engine is being worked on?
9. Is there a way to turn the rear wiper on without spraying it with washer fluid?
