Firstly, a big friendly "hello" from me. I'm a Volvo fan from Johannesburg South Africa and I thought I'd share my latest project with you all. I'm in the process of building a S40 T4 into a BTCC replica to race here in South Africa. I bought the car in January this year and have been hard at work getting it ready to race. When I got the car it had a bad bearing knock...so I took the motor out and it looked like somebody made a real mess of rebuilding the engine. Firstly the valve timing was out and on further inspection I found that the big end on cylinder 3 had no bearings at all!
Below is a photo of the car when I took delivery
So after taking a good look at the motor I decided to put in a low milage replacement motor. The motor is also the B4194T2 so its the "holy grail" motor for tuning.
Here is a photo of the car with the original motor out..the car was very muddy and dirty so I pressure washed it too. Being a Johannesburg car there is not one spot of rust.
I managed to get a 850 single mass flywheel, four pad clutch plate and a heavy duty pressure plate for the car. So once that was all cleaned up I put it on the new motor..
I also ordered a set of BC Racing coilovers for the car and a BTCC sticker kit.....
I then had some PCD adaptors made so that I would have more of a choice when it came to wheels. The PCD adaptors add another 20mm to the offset but I think thats probably a good thing.
So once I had the adaptors on, coilovers in and the wheels on it looked like this...
I've decided to try and make my own front splitter so I sliced the front bumper in half and mounted a FMIC and started to make a mold for the splitter.
I also painted the side mirrors...
Here is a pic of the car while I make the mold....
I'm going to trim the front of the splitter as I think it extends to far forward. But basically this is where I'm at at the moment. A bigger radiator is going to be installed as well as the plumbing for the intercooler......
